Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun: "We Will Actively Reflect Citizens' Collective Intelligence in City Administration"
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Lee Jae-jun, mayor of Suwon, stated, "The 8th term of Suwon City will move forward with the power of the community based on citizen participation and cooperation."
At the 'September Meeting' (monthly assembly) held on the 2nd at the Suwon City Hall auditorium, Mayor Lee said, "My administrative philosophy is 'building the city with the hands of the citizens,' and I will continue to practice this." He emphasized, "Although it is not easy to carry out city administration by following the will of the citizens, operating the administration based on the collective intelligence of the citizens greatly enhances and strengthens the effectiveness of policies."
He also said, "All departments must fully listen to and consider citizens' opinions before promoting any projects," and urged, "Public officials should trust the power of the citizens and work together with them."
The mayor also requested active participation from the citizens in city administration.
Furthermore, Mayor Lee referred to the 'Suwon Three Mothers Incident,' apologizing, "I am sorry for not being able to properly take care of the three mothers who lived a difficult life, and I feel a heavy responsibility as the head of the city."

He continued, "We will promote the establishment of a 'Community Integrated Care System' that handles welfare through village communities," and promised, "We will appoint neighborhood leaders, water meter readers, delivery workers, and others who visit every corner of the village as 'Honorary Social Welfare Officers,' and together with them, we will identify welfare blind spots and overcome the limitations of welfare administration."
