Seoul City Reports 150,000 Visitors on First Car-Free Day at Jamsugyo Bridge... 'Spacing Out Contest' on the 4th
"Please use public transportation when visiting, and take your trash back with you"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government's Hangang Project Headquarters announced on the 2nd that an estimated 150,000 people visited the '2022 Car-Free Jamsugyo Ttubok Ttubok Festival' on its opening day, the 28th of last month.
On the 4th, the second day of the festival, the 'Jamsugyo Booknic' space will be expanded to celebrate the autumn reading season, and the 'Hangang Spacing Out Contest,' returning after three years, will be held.
First, the 'Jamsugyo Booknic,' where visitors can comfortably sit and read books on the car-free Jamsugyo Bridge, received great love on the opening day and will be expanded. About 500 books will be provided, with more than half being children's books. On a cool autumn day perfect for reading, enjoying a booknic on Jamsugyo Bridge, which is usually closed to pedestrians, will be an unforgettable experience.
The 'Hangang Spacing Out Contest,' held to show that doing nothing is also a valuable act, will take place on the 4th on Jamsugyo Bridge. The contest has received explosive interest, with 4,000 teams applying within two days of recruitment, leading to early closure of applications. At the event, 50 teams selected through a competition ratio of 80 to 1 will compete to see 'who spaces out best.' The contest will last 90 minutes, followed by a 'Yoga Class' and a 'Spacing Out Concert' to add more enjoyment.
Permanent programs such as a flea market where you can find your own treasures, food trucks offering culinary delights with views of the Hangang River, street performances including music and magic, an outdoor cinema, photo zones, and experience zones will also continue.
To ensure a pleasant and comfortable festival for everyone, the city plans to actively guide visitors to 'take their trash home' and 'separate waste after eating.' Additionally, to prevent traffic congestion, the use of public transportation is recommended when visiting the festival. The closest stations are Express Bus Terminal Station on Lines 3, 7, and 9 via Banpo-dong, Seocho-gu, at the southern end of Jamsugyo, and Seobinggo Station on the Gyeongui-Jungang Line within walking distance from Seobinggo-dong, Yongsan-gu, at the northern end.
