Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to Operate 'Stay-at-Home and Outdoor Cultural Life Chuseok Special Exhibition' Until the 20th
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] During the Chuseok holiday, various cultural and artistic institutions will hold performances and exhibitions for diverse cultural experiences.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 1st that, together with the Korea Culture Information Service Agency, it will operate the ‘Stay-at-Home & Outside Cultural Life Chuseok Special Exhibition’ until the 20th, providing information on online and offline performances, exhibitions, and events at national and public cultural and artistic institutions so that the whole family can enjoy cultural activities during the Chuseok holiday.
Since March 2020, the Ministry has been providing information on non-face-to-face cultural and artistic content owned by national and public institutions through the ‘Stay-at-Home Cultural Life’ website. This Chuseok special exhibition expands this to the ‘Stay-at-Home & Outside Cultural Life Chuseok Special Exhibition,’ broadly offering cultural events that can be enjoyed outside the home as well.
First, various on-site cultural events have been prepared. The National Museum of Korea, in collaboration with the Foundation for the Promotion of Traditional Performing Arts, will hold ‘2022 Great Heritage, Meeting Today,’ featuring Arirang stage performances, Namsadang Nori, and Pansori from the 9th to the 25th.
The National Folk Museum of Korea will host the 2022 National Folk Museum Chuseok Festival ‘Hangawi, The Full Moon is Hanging’ for three days on the 9th, 11th, and 12th, where visitors can enjoy 31 types of various experiences and special performances, as well as 5 special exhibitions.
The National Gugak Center will hold a Chuseok performance featuring our lively traditional music such as Ganggangsullae and Pungmul at the outdoor Yeonhui Madang on the 10th, with all seats free of charge. The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Cheongju, will operate the Chuseok special program ‘2023 A Museum Sent to Me’ from the 9th to the 12th for 30 families pre-registered in connection with the planned exhibition ‘Exhibition Delivery Service.’
Participants will engage in activities provided by the museum and receive photos of the activities filled with memories one year later. In addition, information on various festivals, performances, and exhibitions held nationwide can be found at the ‘Stay-at-Home & Outside Cultural Life Chuseok Special Exhibition.’
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will also offer non-face-to-face cultural and artistic content following the previous special exhibition. This includes immersive exhibition content such as △ the National Museum of Korea’s ‘Invitation of a Collector,’ △ Arko Art Center’s convergence art planning ‘Underground Net Story,’ and △ Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation’s Imjingak public art project ‘We Are One,’ allowing people to enjoy various exhibition contents from home.
