Various Performances and Exhibitions Viewing, Deoksugung Night Tour, Seoul City Tour Bus Ride, and More Gifts
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 31st that it will hold various events linking online and offline for child readers and teachers to celebrate the publication of the 200th issue of the children's newspaper "Nae Chingu Seoul" (My Friend Seoul).
To participate in the event, scan the QR code on the cover of the September issue of Nae Chingu Seoul or visit the Nae Chingu Seoul website to take the quiz for the 200th issue event, then post the correct answers on the ‘Challenge! Event’ board by September 26.
The video quiz and sound quiz ASMR were created with direct participation from children in question creation to celebrate the 200th issue. The eight video quizzes made by children are themed around Seoul, and the scores vary depending on the difficulty level. Participants must answer correctly to complete 200 points.
Launched in March 2001 and now in its 21st year, Nae Chingu Seoul is a children's newspaper distributed to about 600 elementary schools in Seoul for grades 3 to 6 and their teachers, with a circulation of 303,000 copies per issue. Up to the 200th issue, Nae Chingu Seoul has conveyed the history of Seoul's changes, children's interests, and learning information, promoting pride in their hometown Seoul.
In addition to content covering Seoul's changing appearance and learning information, the cover of Nae Chingu Seoul also reflects changes over the past 21 years. It has delivered information through play formats such as maze finding and dice rolling, introduced augmented reality (AR) to provide a three-dimensional experience of flat newspaper articles, and enhanced integrated use of online and offline through QR codes.
Since its first issue in 2001, Nae Chingu Seoul has selected child reporters every year. These child reporters participate in events, exploration reporting, interviews, and write articles on the Nae Chingu Seoul website, actively contributing to the publication of the children's newspaper. This year, the 723 Nae Chingu Seoul child reporters have participated in various activities including visits to Jamsil Sports Complex, Seoul Energy Dream Center, the Tim Burton special exhibition, and Gwanghwamun Square exploration reporting, as well as interviews with broadcaster Jang Do-yeon and veterinarian Ha Min-jong of the Seoul Wildlife Center.
Meanwhile, QR codes are embedded throughout the Nae Chingu Seoul newspaper to link with online content, expanding the scope of the print edition. Additionally, an event is held where readers scan the quiz QR codes in the newspaper and answer correctly to increase participation among child readers. In particular, participation in the ‘Our Class Event,’ where classes read the newspaper together and take on various quizzes, is steadily increasing.
