[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] The award ceremony for the ‘2022 INFINeLI University Student Design Competition,’ jointly hosted by Seungil Networks, POSCO Steelion, and POSCO A&C, was held on the 26th at The Sharp Gallery in Sinsa-dong.

From April 25 to August 1, university students were invited to submit creative designs using INFINeLI, POSCO Steelion’s premium color steel sheet brand, recognized as a low-carbon, eco-friendly building material.

After a rigorous evaluation by a panel of experts from various fields (including architecture and design university faculty, the National Arboretum, POSCO A&C, and POSCO Construction practitioners), a total of 20 teams were honored with awards, including one grand prize team and one excellence award team.

The grand prize was awarded to the team from Konkuk University, Jeong Byeong-hyeon and Kim Min-hyeong, for their work titled ‘THE Sup’ (THE Forest).

This work demonstrated the potential of INFINeLI as an eco-friendly material from an ESG perspective and applied the pre-fabrication method, which minimizes on-site labor by assembling pre-manufactured structures based on the efficiency of INFINeLI steel sheets during construction. This was implemented in The Sharp Munju (門柱), POSCO Construction’s eco-friendly apartment brand.

The entrance gate, Munju, which determines the first impression of the apartment, was evaluated as the most suitable expression of the eco-friendly values pursued by INFINeLI and The Sharp, earning the team the honor of the grand prize.

The winning teams received prize money of 5 million KRW for the grand prize and 3 million KRW for the excellence award. Additionally, the grand prize winners were given the opportunity to participate in internships at POSCO Steelion and POSCO A&C.

A POSCO Steelion representative stated, “We plan to continue hosting university student design competitions as part of POSCO’s corporate citizenship activities. We will keep developing the competition so that it can be a valuable experience platform for young people aspiring to become future designers.”
