[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The National Gwangju Science Museum showcased the '2022 Korea Science Festival' from the 19th to the 21st, including the operation of a mobile celestial observation vehicle.
This festival, held since 1997, marked its 26th edition, with a cumulative visitor count of approximately 6 million, making it the largest science event.
The outdoor science culture event, held at the Open Stage of Seoul Children's Grand Park, was hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and organized by the National Gwangju Science Museum, Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity, and the Korea Science Museum Association.
The venue featured various mobile science contents for citizens, centered around the National Gwangju Science Museum's mobile science vehicle, the mobile celestial observation vehicle called Star Car, Seoul Metropolitan Science Museum's escape bus, the Korea Meteorological Administration's weather observation vehicle, and the Korea Science Museum Association's Psywheel.
In particular, at the National Gwangju Science Museum booth, visitors could experience various scientific exhibits and solar observation, enjoy a robot dance performance, and participants were also provided with solar observation cards to view the sun with the naked eye. Over four days, about 10,000 visitors attended, making the event a great success.
It was reported that the event was popular for promoting the National Gwangju Science Museum to citizens in the metropolitan area who could not visit Gwangju due to distance, and for showcasing Gwangju's unique science content.
