He also urged Floor Leader Kwon Seong-dong to resign and demanded a meeting with former leader Lee Jun-seok.
Seo said on his Facebook that "we must not make the same mistake twice."
He explained, "At first, I thought that even if there were defects in the current party constitution and regulations, if the Standing National Committee declared an emergency situation and properly followed the procedures according to the party constitution and regulations to appoint an Emergency Response Committee Chairperson, those defects could be resolved. That is how we came this far." He added, "Now, the court has ruled that 'this is not an emergency situation,' and the election of the Emergency Response Committee Chairperson has been declared invalid."
He emphasized, "Naturally, the Emergency Response Committee does not exist either. We cannot go through the same procedures or processes again to reach the same conclusion."
Following the court's provisional injunction that invalidated the existing Emergency Response Committee, the People Power Party announced its intention to resolve the issue by amending the party constitution and regulations to establish a new Emergency Response Committee. To create a new committee, the Standing National Committee and the National Committee must each be convened twice. According to the PPP's party constitution and regulations, the conditions for convening the Standing National Committee include ▲ direct convening by the chairperson ▲ resolution by the Supreme Council to convene ▲ and a request for convening by at least one-quarter of the Standing National Committee members.
With Seo, the chairperson of the National Committee, blocking the convening of the National Committee, the current PPP leadership's plan to form a new Emergency Response Committee is inevitably facing setbacks.
Seo also urged reconciliation between the 'Yoon core faction' responsible for the current crisis and former leader Lee's side. Seo said, "Floor Leader Kwon Seong-dong may feel wronged, but he must step down. That is the will of the people." He advised, "I recommend that the key figures of the current administration, including Floor Leader Kwon, meet with former leader Lee."
To former leader Lee, Seo said, "Please refrain from making statements that harm the party and the president any further. Although you may feel aggrieved, the public does not favor your words and actions." He questioned, "For the success of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration and the future of the party, shouldn't we join hands?"
