Gangneung-si Cracks Down on 'Origin Labeling of Agricultural and Specialty Products' Ahead of Chuseok
September 1-7: Focused Crackdown on Major Retailers and Supermarkets
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gangneung City, Gangwon Province, will conduct inspections and crackdowns on violations of origin labeling of agricultural specialty products from October 1 to 7 in celebration of Chuseok.
The city plans to focus inspections on large distribution companies and supermarkets regarding sacrificial agricultural products and gift items.
For traditional markets and small businesses vulnerable to origin labeling, the city will combine guidance and publicity to strengthen merchants' awareness of the origin labeling system.
They will check the presence and appropriateness of origin labeling methods, expiration dates, and take legal action against violations, imposing fines for unmarked origins.
