[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] The Seongbuk-gu walking competition, which had been suspended due to the spread of COVID-19, was held on the 27th around the Gaeunsan Dullegil trail area in Seongbuk-gu after two and a half years.
On this day, the event featured not only the walking competition but also various health booths such as smoking cessation clinics and dementia prevention counseling, along with a raffle event, attracting active participation from citizens.
On the 28th at 1 p.m., Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, visited the free vehicle safety inspection site held in the parking lot of the district office in celebration of Chuseok.
The event was organized to support the safe return journeys of residents by providing free vehicle inspections in honor of Chuseok, a traditional Korean holiday. It was made possible through the talent donation of about 60 repair shops affiliated with the Nowon branch of the Seoul Automobile Professional Maintenance Business Association (hereafter Carpos).
During the inspection, professionals provided checks and refills of coolant, washer fluid, and oils; tire wear status checks and air pressure inspections and refills; visual inspections of brake pads and belts; wiper checks and replacements; and other expert consultations related to safe vehicle operation.
The district office and Carpos Nowon branch have signed a ‘Parking Sharing Project’ agreement, opening 72 parking spaces at 33 repair shops outside business hours to residents, continuously cooperating for residents’ convenience and the local community.
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, said, “I sincerely thank the members of Carpos Nowon branch for their multifaceted cooperation,” and added, “I hope all residents, including those who received inspections, have a safe and pleasant journey home.”
Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Kang-su) held the launch ceremony of the Seoul Companion Dog Patrol on the 27th at the audiovisual room on the 4th floor of Mapo-gu Office.
The launch ceremony of the ‘Seoul Companion Dog Patrol,’ hosted by the Seoul Autonomous Police Commission and the Non-Stray Dog City Association, was attended by about 60 people, including 45 selected patrol members from Mapo-gu and 15 personnel from related organizations such as the Mapo Police Station.
Starting with the launch ceremony, the Mapo-gu selected patrol members of the ‘Seoul Companion Dog Patrol’ freely engage in daily walks with their companion dogs while monitoring potential hazards throughout Mapo-gu. They are responsible for immediately reporting to 112 if they discover any crime risks or emergency situations.
They also report citizen inconveniences such as damaged pavement blocks to the Dasan Call Center.
