About 30 people attended the opening ceremony of the Cultural City Support Center held at 2 p.m. on the 26th, including Mayor Kim Jang-ho, City Council Chairman Ahn Joo-chan, Baek Hong-ju, CEO of the local company Wonik QnC that supported the center’s establishment, and the citizen promotion group.
The ceremony included unveiling the signboard and a commemorative rice cake cutting, followed by a presentation from Park Dong-su, head of the Gumi City Cultural City Support Center, explaining Gumi City’s cultural city development plan and the operation of the Cultural City Support Center. Attendees celebrated the opening of the center by writing hopeful messages envisioning the future of cultural city Gumi.
Mayor Kim Jang-ho expressed his gratitude in a congratulatory speech to the companies, citizens, related organizations, and groups who worked hard for the opening of the Cultural City Support Center.
He asked that the Cultural City Support Center take the lead in culturally transforming the region and realizing the cultural life of local residents to create a cultural city Gumi, promising active administrative support.
The Gumi City Cultural City Support Center will play a pivotal role in overall planning of cultural city development projects, establishing an organic cooperation system such as public-private governance, and strengthening regional specialization projects to revitalize the cultural city.
In particular, a resident-open networking space will be prepared on the first floor to be used as a cultural city hub space freely accessible to all citizens.
The Gumi City Cultural City Support Center has attracted attention as it was established with sponsorship from the local company Wonik QnC, which signed an MOU with the city for cultural city development.
The city aims to become a cultural city where work and life are balanced and plans to continue cultural city development through ongoing cooperation with local companies.
The first cooperative project was the support from Wonik QnC for the establishment of the Cultural City Support Center, and Wonik QnC plans to continue sponsoring the training of local cultural personnel.
The ‘Cultural City Development Project’ is a representative contest-type policy project of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism that supports the process of cities themselves establishing a sustainable urban development system centered on culture under the premise that “Every city is special.”
