The harvested rice of the early-maturing Gyeongbuk No. 9 variety will be immediately dried and milled, then sold entirely to consumers seeking new rice.
About 200 people, including Mayor Kangdeok Lee, full-time rice farmers, agricultural organizations, and officials from the Agricultural Cooperative, attended the first rice harvesting event, visiting the harvesting site to share the joy of harvest with farmers and to encourage the hard work of farmers who suffered from this year's heatwave.
