Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority Signs Agreement on Measures to Alleviate Vessel Congestion
Agreement Reached Among 11 Companies Including Cargo Owners and Stevedores Using Petrochemical Wharf
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Park Seong-hyun, YGPA) announced on the 25th that it signed the 'Anchorage Congestion Relief Implementation Agreement' with petrochemical berth users and stevedores at the Gwangyang Port World Marine Center.
This anchorage congestion relief implementation agreement was promoted with the aim of enhancing the operational efficiency of the petrochemical berth through win-win cooperation between the authority and berth users, thereby reducing anchorage congestion.
The main contents of the agreement include starting work within 2 hours after vessel berthing, conducting cargo sample inspections at anchorage points as a principle, utilizing the 'Integrated Stevedoring Management System,' and maintaining appropriate dispatch capacity of stevedoring facilities, all as practical measures to reduce anchorage congestion through efficient berth operation.
President Park Seong-hyun stated, "In a situation where berthing facilities are insufficient compared to the demand for petrochemical product cargo, we have reached the implementation agreement for anchorage congestion relief through continuous communication and cooperation with client companies. YGPA will continue to do its best to create a safe and competitive port by resolving anchorage congestion, including expanding insufficient berthing facilities."
Meanwhile, prior to this implementation agreement, YGPA has been continuously making efforts to relieve anchorage congestion since July by producing and operating integrated timesheets for Jungheung and petrochemical berths, and establishing and implementing the berth operation policy for shared berths in the Yeosu area of Gwangyang Port.
