Positive Evaluation of Government Performance Rises 4%p to 32% Compared to Previous Survey
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Seven out of ten Koreans responded negatively to the question of whether the economy is stabilizing and improving. President Yoon Suk-yeol's approval rating for his administration was found to have increased compared to the previous survey conducted two weeks ago.
According to the National Barometer Survey (NBS) conducted from the 22nd to the 24th by Embrain Public, K-stat Research, Korea Research, and Hankook Research, targeting 1,001 adult men and women via telephone interviews, when asked whether they believe the economy is stabilizing and improving in relation to the Yoon Suk-yeol administration's national vision and value realization, 23% gave a positive evaluation (8% strongly agree, 16% generally agree), while 72% gave a negative evaluation (31% generally disagree, 41% strongly disagree).
Negative evaluations of the economic situation outnumbered positive evaluations across all ages and regions. However, among supporters of the People Power Party, 54% gave a positive evaluation and 41% a negative evaluation.
When asked whether they think President Yoon is doing well as president, 32% responded positively (12% very well, 20% fairly well), and 63% responded negatively (23% fairly poorly, 40% very poorly). Compared to the NBS survey two weeks ago, positive evaluations increased by 4 percentage points, while negative evaluations decreased by 2 percentage points.
Among those who evaluated positively, when asked why they judged so, 28% answered "because of decisiveness," 18% "because he is fair and just," and 17% "because he is fulfilling promised pledges well." However, compared to two weeks ago, the percentage for "because he is fair and just" dropped by 5 percentage points.
