Prosecutors Conduct Search and Seizure at Three Locations Including the Glass Industry Association Related to the Ministry of Industry Blacklist

[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] The prosecution, investigating allegations of a blacklist within the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, has extended its search and seizure operations to affiliated organizations following actions against public enterprises and public institutions.
The Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office announced that from 10 a.m. on the 25th, it conducted search and seizure operations at three locations: the Flat Glass Industry Association, the Korea Photovoltaic Industry Association, and the Korea Lubricants Industry Association.
The Flat Glass Industry Association is an organization that manages public enterprises related to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and is one of the institutions supervised by the ministry.
The prosecution is expanding its investigation by including affiliated organizations related to the ministry and public institutions as subjects of compulsory investigation.

Regarding this search and seizure, the Eastern District Prosecutors' Office explained, "During the ongoing investigation of the 'past case involving the solicitation of resignation letters from heads of public institutions under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and related accusations,' clues of abuse of authority similar in timing and form were found concerning the appointment of executives in these associations. Therefore, the search and seizure were conducted to verify the facts."
