9 out of 10 People "Feel High Inflation When Buying Chuseok Gifts"
Timon Survey Results... 38% Shop Smart for Chuseok on Online Platforms
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] A survey found that 9 out of 10 people felt the impact of high inflation while preparing Chuseok gifts. On the 25th, TMON revealed the results of a survey conducted over the past three weeks with 800 customers regarding 'Chuseok gifts.'
According to TMON, 9 out of 10 respondents said they felt the price increase while preparing Chuseok gifts. Additionally, there is a growing trend of contactless and thrifty consumption in preparing Chuseok gifts. First, 59% responded that they would prepare Chuseok gifts. 38% chose 'online platforms such as TMON' as their shopping channel. This is an 11 percentage point increase from last year's Chuseok (27%), mainly due to price competitiveness and shopping convenience. 31% said they 'prepare gifts and give them in person,' while 'do not give gifts' and 'send money with gratitude' each accounted for 10%.
The average gift amount per person was considered appropriate at 'under 100,000 won' by 68%. TMON's Chuseok special sales data also showed that products priced under 50,000 won had the highest sales volume. By product category, sales volume was highest for processed foods at 34%, followed by health foods at 20%, and fresh foods at 10%.

Meanwhile, TMON is holding a special Chuseok event until the 10th of next month to help customers prepare for the holiday economically.
