View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] The Korea Federation of Textile Industries announced on the 24th the opening of 'Preview in SEOUL (PIS) 2022,' featuring 311 domestic and international textile and fashion companies.
PIS is being held from today until the 26th at COEX Hall A near Samseong Station in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Under the theme 'Next Gate,' this year's PIS presents sustainable green and digital innovation strategies for the textile and fashion industry in the endemic era. The exhibition showcases eco-friendly and carbon-neutral materials as well as digital convergence technologies that respond to climate crises and pandemics.
At the Next Gate fashion show, digital 3D fashion shows and physical fashion shows were combined to showcase the values and directions of sustainability. Designer Park Hwan-sung of 'D-Antidote,' designer Choi Chung-hoon of 'Dookan,' and 15 companies including eco-friendly certified material firms Jeonbang, Shinjintex, K-Joon Company, and Beco International collaborated.
The Digital Fashion Pavilion, led by Clover Virtual Fashion and Adobe Korea, features 14 companies including Microsoft, NVIDIA, and Pixelpool, demonstrating the future of the textile and fashion industry expanded into the metaverse. Technologies such as 3D texturing, virtual simulation, augmented and extended reality, and meta-fashion applied in manufacturing and consumer markets are showcased, providing visitors with hands-on experiences.

This PIS attracted 70 overseas companies and international buyers, with pre-registered buyers more than doubling compared to previous events. Major domestic fashion companies such as Samsung C&T, LF, E-Land, and Kolon FnC, global vendors including SeAH Sangyuk, Hansae Co., and Hansol Textile, as well as sports and outdoor brands like Youngone Outdoor, K2 Korea, Black Yak, Andar, and Descente Korea completed pre-registration to explore global trend materials. Companies from other industries such as Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, and Hyundai Motor Company are also expected to visit the exhibition to develop convergence technologies and products with the textile and fashion industry.

This PIS also hosts special seminars featuring global experts on solutions for sustainable fashion and metaverse fashion cases. A total of 12 seminar programs introduce eco-friendly materials, certification trends, and the latest digital technology information. Additional events such as job fairs are organized to provide practical support for resolving workforce shortages and preparing for employment in the textile and fashion industry.
