Yeo: "If the People Power Party deliberately delays review of the Kim Geon-hee Special Prosecutor Act, we will consider designating it as a fast-track bill"
Democratic Party "Investigation into Stock Manipulation and False Career Allegations Stalled"
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] Jin Seong-jun, the senior deputy floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, said on the 24th regarding the special prosecutor law he proposed targeting Kim Gun-hee, the wife of President Yoon Seok-yeol, “There is a broad consensus on the need to introduce a special prosecutor. If the People Power Party deliberately refuses to review it, we will consider designating it as a fast-track bill.” Kim Yong-min, the lawmaker who proposed the bill, said, “We will actively consider pushing for party consensus.”
On the same day, Jin appeared on YTN radio and stated, “The allegations of stock manipulation and academic forgery related to Kim Gun-hee and Deutsche Motors have been under investigation by the prosecution and police for a long time but have been left unresolved, so it is common sense within the party that we cannot just let it go.” However, he added, “The special prosecutor law’s investigation scope includes allegations of preferential treatment related to the presidential office relocation, but since this is a recently raised issue and the party is pushing for a parliamentary audit, I think more time is needed.”
Regarding concerns that the Kim Gun-hee special law might not be properly discussed since the chairperson of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee is from the People Power Party, Jin said, “It seems that this is exactly why there are talks about passing it even by designating it as a fast-track bill, but I think that is a premature judgment.” He added, “The review should proceed in the order prescribed by the National Assembly Act, and if (the People Power Party) deliberately refuses to submit or review the bill, then we can actively consider designating it as a fast-track bill.”

Kim also stressed, “We must go beyond recommending the dismissal of Minister of Justice Han Dong-hoon and proceed to impeachment.” He said, “Minister Han, who attended the Legislation and Judiciary Committee meeting, interrupted a lawmaker’s personal remarks and did not follow even the minimum etiquette or meeting rules. The recent decree governance clearly has legal violation issues, so I think impeachment is necessary.”
