Ministry of Education Selects 43 Projects for 'Humanities and Social Sciences Academic Support Program'... 2 Convergence Projects Also Piloted
Humanities and Social Sciences Research Institute to Provide Up to 74.2 Billion KRW in Support for Outstanding Researchers Over 10 Years
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea announced on the 24th the preliminary selection results for new projects under the ‘2022 Humanities and Social Sciences Academic Support Project’ and will begin full-scale support.
The Ministry of Education and the Foundation selected 18 new research institute projects and 25 new researcher projects this time, following the selection of 1,036 individual researcher projects in July. In particular, this year, to strengthen the infrastructure for convergence research based on humanities and social sciences, a new subcategory called ‘Future Sharing Type’ was established within the ‘Humanities and Social Sciences Research Institute Support Project,’ and two pilot research projects for convergence research institutes centered on humanities and social sciences were selected.
Additionally, the Ministry of Education newly selected 10 projects under the ‘Excellent Scholar Support’ program to support the growth of highly experienced outstanding scholars in the humanities and social sciences field, and 15 projects under the ‘Social Science Research Support’ program to proactively address national agenda-setting and social issues based on academic and research foundations for researchers in the humanities and social sciences field.
After the preliminary selection announcement, the Ministry of Education plans to finalize the selected projects through an objection procedure, and then quickly proceed with contract signing and research fund disbursement procedures so that researchers and research institutes can smoothly start their research from the 1st of next month.
