Naver Union Pickets for Affiliate Treatment Improvement... Intensifies Collective Action Level
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Choi] The Naver Branch of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions’ Chemical Fiber and Food Workers’ Union (hereinafter Joint Statement) announced on the 23rd that it will escalate its industrial action by conducting picketing to improve the treatment of affiliates.
Despite a month of collective actions, Naver has shown no change in behavior to resolve affiliate issues, prompting the union to expand the actions offline.
The picketing will be conducted by union members during their break times, specifically during commuting hours and lunch breaks. It will rotate among Naver’s new headquarters, 1784, and the buildings housing five affiliate companies. Other forms of collective action that union members can participate in together are also being prepared following the picketing.
Alongside this, the Joint Statement has been conducting a signature campaign since the 16th, urging Naver’s decision-making, targeting all union members and employees. By the 19th, they had collected 1,000 signatures, reaching their goal, and the campaign will continue until the 24th.
