[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] The Democratic Party of Korea stated on the 22nd that "we will proceed through agreement with the ruling party as soon as a request comes from the Presidential Office" regarding the Special Inspector General.
Cho Oh-seop, spokesperson for the Democratic Party's Emergency Response Committee, said at a press meeting after the committee meeting that "the other day, the Presidential Office said that if a request regarding the Special Inspector General comes from the National Assembly, they will proceed according to the National Assembly's decision. I asked Jin Sung-jun, the Democratic Party's senior deputy floor leader, and he said that no official request has yet been made to the National Assembly," adding, "If a request comes, we will proceed through consultation between the ruling and opposition parties."
The Special Inspector General is an institution that continuously monitors illegal activities by the President's relatives or close associates.
