'DMZ Walking Tour'... Gangwon-do Opens 6 Themed Route Courses
9.13~12.18 DMZ Peace Trail Border Area Opened in 5 Local Governments
[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] Gangwon Province announced on the 21st that it will open six themed courses of the 'DMZ Peace Trail' (hereinafter referred to as the Peace Trail), created in the Demilitarized Zone in the border area (Cheorwon 1, Hwacheon 1, Yanggu 1, Inje 1, Goseong 2), from September 13 to December 18.
The five local governments in the border area have organized the themed courses as representative tourist resources differentiated to allow direct experience of the ecology, culture, and history north of the Demilitarized Zone and the Civilian Control Line (CCL).
Participants in the experience will move together with military units and can listen to explanations from tour guides on history, ecology, and other topics depending on the course.
The Peace Trail has been developing the Demilitarized Zone and border areas into spaces of peace and coexistence since 2019.
Last November, the province temporarily opened themed courses in three counties (Hwacheon, Yanggu, Goseong), which received great public interest, but operations were ended early due to COVID-19.
