"Get Online Information Instantly"... Korea Press Foundation and TikTok Sign 'Media Literacy' MOU
[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] The Korea Press Foundation announced on the 19th that it has signed a mutual Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with TikTok for 'media literacy project collaboration.' The agreement was held on the 18th at the Korea Press Foundation Media Education Center.
The MOU focuses on cooperation in media literacy education that enables critical acquisition of online information. In particular, it aims to enhance media understanding among adolescents who use short-form video platforms.
Both parties plan to produce five educational videos that explain key media literacy concepts useful for adolescents, such as media representation, filter bubbles, and gatekeeping, in an easy-to-understand manner. Additionally, they will encourage voluntary education through promotional events related to the 'Media Literacy Hashtag Challenge' on the TikTok platform.
Kim Seongjae, Head of Media Division at the Korea Press Foundation, said, "As the usage rate of short-form videos among adolescents increases, the ability to critically and discerningly use and produce content on related platforms is becoming important. Based on the foundation's experience in planning and operating media literacy education content, we will collaborate with influential online platform companies like TikTok to promote various media literacy campaigns."
