[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Yi-gang) will conduct a "Comprehensive Inspection of Chuseok Peak Season Foods" targeting 17 businesses in the district until the 26th to provide residents with safe and healthy food ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
According to Seo-gu on the 19th, this inspection will check compliance with the Food Sanitation Act at food preparation and sales businesses and health functional food sales businesses, which have high consumption for Chuseok gifts and ancestral rites.
Sampling tests will also be conducted on high-consumption foods during the Chuseok holiday such as rice cakes, jeon (Korean pancakes), and processed gift foods to ensure the safety of Chuseok peak season food distribution.
The main inspection items include whether there is any unreported manufacturing or sales, use or sale of expired products, and compliance with preservation and distribution standards.
Violating businesses will be administratively sanctioned according to relevant laws, and non-compliant products will be recalled and disposed of. A re-inspection will be conducted within six months to verify whether violations have been corrected.
A Seo-gu official stated, "We will do our best to create an environment where residents can purchase food with confidence by conducting focused inspections on high-consumption foods ahead of Chuseok."
