On the 17th, Governor Park met with Commissioner Heo to discuss current projects such as building infrastructure for baseball winter training camps in the province.
On this day, Commissioner Heo said, “Gyeongnam has a mild climate, making it suitable for winter training camps,” and proposed the Namhaean Belt development project.
He requested, “Please take active interest and support in creating two or more baseball fields in the Namhaean region of the province and expanding baseball infrastructure such as indoor practice facilities and weight training centers.”
In response, Governor Park said, “I will take an interest in expanding infrastructure and promoting projects for the development and revitalization of baseball in Gyeongnam,” adding, “We will continuously cooperate with the KBO so that the development of baseball in the province benefits the local economy.”
Gyeongnam Province expects that expanding baseball infrastructure will contribute to revitalizing the local economy through effects such as ▲visits for winter training camps ▲attracting baseball-related events to encourage visits by baseball fans ▲strengthening external recognition through regional promotion.
According to the province, there are currently 30 baseball fields in 15 cities and counties within the province.
