Only Individuals Buy... KOSPI and KOSDAQ in Deep Decline
[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] The KOSPI and KOSDAQ indices are widening their losses.
At 1:45 PM on the 17th, the KOSPI stood at 2,514.16, down 0.76% (19.36 points) from the previous trading day. The index opened at 2,536.57, up 0.12% (3.05 points) from the previous day, continued its upward trend, but then turned downward.
Foreign investors and institutions, who had shown net buying in the morning, switched to net selling by offloading stocks worth 65.6 billion KRW and 61 billion KRW respectively, while individuals turned to net buying by purchasing stocks worth 135.2 billion KRW.
All of the top market capitalization stocks are showing declines. Samsung Electronics (-0.98%), LG Energy Solution (-2.17%), SK Hynix (-0.10%), Samsung Biologics (-3.65%), Samsung SDI (-1.42%), Hyundai Motor (-3.54%), Kakao (-1.24%), LG Chem (-1.81%), and NAVER (-1.16%) traded at prices lower than the previous day.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ index stood at 825.53, down 1.10% (9.21 points) from the previous trading day. The index opened at 834.91, up 0.02% (0.17 points) from the previous day, but is currently recording a decline of over 1%. Regarding investment trends, individuals alone bought stocks worth 127.3 billion KRW, while foreign investors and institutions sold stocks worth 55.5 billion KRW and 53 billion KRW respectively.

Among the top market capitalization stocks, only L&F rose by 4.88%, while Celltrion Healthcare (-1.53%), Kakao Games (-1.69%), HLB (-0.68%), Pearl Abyss (-1.03%), Celltrion Pharm (-2.82%), Alteogen (-1.81%), EcoPro (-0.76%), and Chunbo (-0.93%) declined.
