Korea Exchange Selects 38 Companies as 'KOSDAQ Rising Stars' for 2022
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Myunghwan] The Korea Exchange announced on the 17th that it has selected 38 KOSDAQ-listed companies with excellent technological capabilities and growth potential as the '2022 KOSDAQ Rising Stars.'
The KOSDAQ Rising Star program is an initiative conducted by the Korea Exchange since 2009 to support the mid- to long-term growth of promising KOSDAQ-listed companies and to revitalize the KOSDAQ market. It selects companies among KOSDAQ-listed firms that have strong market dominance globally or have high potential to grow into world-class companies in innovative industries.
This year, 16 companies were newly selected as Rising Stars. The Exchange explained that most of the newly selected companies possess innovative technologies in future growth industries such as new drug development, semiconductors, and displays.
Among the existing Rising Star companies, 22 were reselected.
Companies selected as KOSDAQ Rising Stars are exempt from annual fees and listing fees for one year. They also receive benefits such as support for holding investor relations (IR) meetings and the publication of corporate analysis reports.
An official from the Exchange stated, "The KOSDAQ Rising Star program is designed to discover and nurture companies with excellent technological capabilities and growth potential," adding, "The Exchange does not recommend investment in these stocks."
