Boseong-gun Secures 16.8 Billion KRW in Local Extinction Response Fund
Improving Residential Conditions, Discovering Youth and Job Policies, Providing Moving-in Incentives, and Other Support
[Boseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Cheon-seok] Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 16th that it received a B grade in the local extinction response fund investment plan evaluation conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, securing 16.8 billion KRW in funds.
Boseong-gun aims to be a hopeful Boseong that returns and grows again by improving residential conditions and attracting a living population through the creation of Boseong Promenade (community center, beach deck, etc.), creating attractive spaces, suppressing population outflow, and discovering six projects including the new establishment of an agricultural and industrial complex based on local resources to create jobs. Through these efforts, the fund (16.8 billion KRW, 7.2 billion KRW in 2022, 9.6 billion KRW in 2023) was secured.
In addition, the county is promoting continuous improvement of residential conditions to overcome the population decline crisis, operating return-to-farming and rural migration programs, discovering youth and job policies, providing moving-in incentives, and supporting moving costs for newlywed couples.
Kim Cheol-woo, the governor of Boseong-gun, said, "We will strive to create a hopeful Boseong full of dreams and happiness with the secured funds, and we will continue to discover and promote various projects."
The local extinction response fund provides 1 trillion KRW annually for 10 years starting this year (750 billion KRW in 2022) from government contributions, distributing 75% to basic local governments (89 population decline areas, 18 areas of interest) and 25% to metropolitan governments.
