Gangneung-si to Pay 'Noise Damage Compensation' for Military Airfield
Payment from 18th to 19th, 110.8 billion KRW to 40,478 recipients
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gangneung City, Gangwon Province, will pay compensation for noise damage caused by the military airfield.
The city announced on the 17th that "the calculation work for 40,478 residents in the noise countermeasure area has been completed, and the city’s noise countermeasure committee confirmed a plan to pay compensation amounting to 11.08 billion KRW."
Based on noise level standards, 60,000 KRW for Type 1, 45,000 KRW for Type 2, and 30,000 KRW for Type 3 will be paid monthly. The compensation amount for each individual was determined by applying reductions according to the length of residence and the location of the workplace.

The city will individually pay the confirmed compensation to the applicants’ bank accounts over two days, on the 18th and 19th. Cases confirmed through appeals will be paid by the end of October.
