At the meeting, the current status of the pledges was reviewed, and under the chairmanship of Mayor Kwon Ki-chang, an open discussion on the preparation status, issues, and solutions regarding the pledges was held, along with an exchange of opinions among related departments.
The 8 major pledges included ▲ creation and expansion of industrial complexes ▲ provision of half-price tap water to Andong citizens ▲ establishment of a new bus terminal at the old Andong Station ▲ promotion of changes to the natural environment conservation area around Andong Dam ▲ support for free tuition for university students at local universities in Andong ▲ attraction of a public medical school and establishment of a university hospital ▲ promotion of administrative district integration between Andong and Yecheon ▲ introduction of a foreign seasonal worker program, with specific directions presented for each.
Pledges related to the utilization of abandoned railway sites and historical sites, as well as the activation of tourism resources around Andong Dam, were also intensively discussed as key project initiatives.
The city plans to promptly implement pledges that can be immediately pursued and include budgets necessary for planning in the second supplementary budget, while pledges to be realized within the term and long-term pledges will be sequentially reflected in the main budget for implementation.
Efforts will also be focused on securing national funds for the pledges by linking them with the 120 national tasks of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration and Gyeongbuk Province projects.
Based on the results of the pledge report meeting, incomplete parts of the pledges will be supplemented, and the Korean Manifesto Practice Headquarters will be requested to operate a resident jury system to finalize the pledge implementation plan in December this year.
