Paju City Cracks Down on Fraudulent Distribution of 'Paju Pay'
Joint On-Site Crackdown with Gyeonggi Province from 8.16 to 9.6... Investigation Referral Policy Considering Severity
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Paju City in Gyeonggi Province will conduct crackdowns to prevent and eradicate the illegal circulation of the local currency 'Paju Pay' from the 16th of this month to the 6th of next month.
The main targets are registered merchants suspected of being in restricted industries such as precious metals and entertainment bars, as well as local currency merchants who illegally exchange and receive local currency.
The types include ▲ receiving or exchanging local currency without selling goods or providing services ▲ operating in restricted industries ▲ refusing payment or treating local currency less favorably compared to other payment methods ▲ and other cases where enforcement is deemed necessary.
The crackdown will be carried out by forming a joint task force with Gyeonggi Province after completing preliminary investigations such as extracting lists of suspicious merchants and receiving complaints.

Merchants found to be involved in illegal circulation will be subject to corrective measures, cancellation of merchant registration, fines, or referral to the police for investigation, depending on the severity of the case.
