[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] The Gyeonggi-do Special Judicial Police for Public Welfare will conduct intensive crackdowns (August 16-31) on illegal food manufacturing and processing activities targeting 360 food manufacturing and processing businesses as well as livestock product processing and sales businesses during the Chuseok holiday peak season.
The crackdown will focus on ▲ false labeling of the origin of agricultural, marine, and livestock products ▲ violations of food handling standards and specifications ▲ use or storage of expired products ▲ use or sale of hazardous food ingredients ▲ compliance with facility standards such as workplaces and food handling facilities.
The Special Judicial Police plan to track and investigate suppliers to ensure that all detected counterfeit and substandard foods are seized and destroyed, thereby preventing the distribution of illegal and substandard foods in advance. Additionally, reports of illegal activities can be submitted via the website or the provincial call center.
