SK Magic Wins Four Awards at the 2022 Red Dot Design Award
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] SK Magic announced on the 11th that it achieved a grand slam by winning four awards, including the main prize (Winner) in each category of product design, design concept, and brand & communication design at the ‘2022 Red Dot Design Award,’ one of the world’s top three design awards.
The Red Dot Design Award, established in 1955, is a German international design competition and is considered one of the world’s top three design awards alongside Germany’s 'iF' and the United States’ 'IDEA.' Every year, it evaluates excellence, creativity, and functionality in three categories: product design, design concept, and brand & communication design, announcing the best designs.
In the product design category held in March, the ‘Borderless Induction’ won the main prize. The Borderless Induction also achieved a ‘Grand Slam’ by sweeping the world’s four major design awards: Germany’s iF, Red Dot, the US’s IDEA, and Japan’s Good Design Award.
In the design concept category held in July, SK Magic’s design identity strategy ‘Natural Monochrome’ and the ‘3D Air Shot Garment Care’ won the main prize. Natural Monochrome is SK Magic’s differentiated design identity strategy that pursues naturalness in daily life, highly praised for making home appliances blend into spaces and become part of customers’ lives. Reflecting this design identity strategy, the ‘3D Air Shot Garment Care’ was also submitted and included in the list of awardees.
In the brand & communication design category announced on the 4th, the ‘Eco-friendly Welcome Kit’ provided to new and recruited members won the main prize. The welcome kit, created to build consensus among members on ESG (environment, society, governance) management, applied eco-friendly materials to all items including pens, notebooks, calendars, message cards, tumblers, and packaging. In particular, it was highly evaluated for using a graphic concept symbolizing a virtuous cycle to deliver a differentiated story that embodies the five corporate cultures SK Magic pursues: customer satisfaction and member happiness, innovation and passion, and social value.
