Psychological First Aid (PFA) is a representative technique that alleviates the initial psychological shock of disaster survivors and helps their recovery. It is essential training for firefighters who encounter disaster situations for the first time.
This training, led by Professor Hyun Jin-hee of the Department of Social Welfare at Daegu University, consisted of theoretical education on understanding disaster situations, core activities of psychological first aid, and self-management for field personnel, as well as practical training simulating disaster scenarios to enable practical application in the field.
The firefighters who attended the training said, "It was beneficial to learn effective communication methods to help stabilize the mental state of residents at disaster sites and emergency treatment methods that can be immediately applied to emotional wounds."
