[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] Joo Ho-young, Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, announced on the 9th that the Emergency Response Committee he will form going forward will be defined as an 'Innovative Management-type Emergency Committee,' which combines both management and hybrid types, and that he will promptly resolve the party's emergency situation. He expressed his intention to meet with Representative Lee Jun-seok to resolve the internal party conflict, aiming to complete the composition of the emergency committee by this weekend at the earliest or early next week at the latest.
At a press conference held at the National Assembly after his inauguration as Emergency Committee Chairman, Joo said in a Q&A session with reporters, "If the committee simply manages the party convention, it is a management type, and if it seeks innovation and change, it is an innovative type. Our emergency committee must pursue innovation and change while also managing the party convention simultaneously. If I were to name the nature of our emergency committee, I would call it an Innovative Management-type Emergency Committee."
Regarding Representative Lee’s announcement to file an injunction, he said, "It is very unfortunate that political issues are moving into judicial procedures," adding, "Resolving political issues through judicial procedures is a last resort, and regardless of the outcome, it can cause irreparable wounds to both parties." However, he stated that he would meet with Representative Lee soon to persuade him.
Joo also stated that he would fully support the activities of the Innovation Committee launched by former leadership including Representative Lee and Floor Leader Kwon Seong-dong. He said, "There is no reason to suspend the Innovation Committee’s activities, and I intend to actively support them," adding, "The emergency committee will be structured to implement the proposals made by the Innovation Committee."
While acknowledging that a prolonged emergency committee system is undesirable, he said, "I am aware of opinions that it is inappropriate to hold the party convention during the first national audit and budget review process, and I will gather consensus by considering such opinions." He also revealed plans to appoint 2 to 3 external members as emergency committee members.
Regarding whether pro-Yoon faction lawmakers will participate in the emergency committee, he responded, "I am not sure exactly who you mean by 'Yunhaekgwan' (Yoon core group)," but added, "I think those responsible for the situation would find it difficult to participate in the emergency committee."

In his opening remarks that day, Joo stated, "I will promptly resolve the party’s conflicts and divisions to create a united party," and pledged to bring about innovation and change within the party. He continued, "Cooperation between the party and government is essential, but the party, as the channel of public sentiment, must boldly correct policies or measures when the government deviates from public opinion for the party and government to be healthy together," and said, "The emergency committee will not neglect its role in conveying and reflecting public sentiment."
