On the afternoon of the 9th, Kim stated on his Facebook, "I will not apply for a suspension injunction," adding, "However, I will do my best to protect the party's democracy and procedural democracy."
Kim originally planned to hold a press conference at the National Assembly that afternoon but canceled it due to continuous heavy rain. He explained, "As a responsible member of a conservative party, I will cancel the press conference in this heavy rain situation, which is equivalent to a national disaster," and "At this moment, I considered what is important for the country, the people, and the party."
On the same day, the People Power Party held a national committee meeting in the morning and conducted an ARS vote to transition to an emergency response committee system, passing a party constitution amendment allowing the acting party leader to appoint the emergency committee chairman. Out of 707 members, 509 participated in the vote, with 457 in favor. Once the new emergency committee is established, party leader Lee Jun-seok and Supreme Council member Kim will be automatically dismissed.
Until now, other Supreme Council members, led by Bae Hyun-jin, have declared voluntary resignation, but Kim has refused to resign voluntarily, citing a lack of "political justification."
