Hong Jun-pyo: "I Tried to Mediate from Lee Jun-seok's Perspective but Will Step Down"
"Lee, Let's Not Go Toward Makjang Politics... Grow Up a Bit"
"Reminds Me of Park Geun-hye Impeachment... Stop It"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Hyun-ji] Hong Joon-pyo, Mayor of Daegu, stated on the 5th, "Until now, I have tried various ways to mediate from the perspective of Lee Jun-seok, leader of the People Power Party, but after seeing his recent responses, I have decided to stop."
On the same day, Mayor Hong wrote on his Facebook about Lee, "I told him repeatedly to restrain himself and focus solely on judicial procedures, but his inability to endure and his extreme verbal responses to every issue were a grave mistake." He added, "As a party leader, one should prioritize the safety of the regime and the country over personal safety, but his current behavior can only be seen as heading towards reckless politics," and said, "Please mature and come back. I will wait until then."
He also criticized the internal strife within the party surrounding the transition to an emergency response committee system. Mayor Hong expressed concern, saying, "The Park Geun-hye administration was impeached due to internal divisions within the Saenuri Party, and the Korean conservative camp has endured tremendous trials over the past five years. After much hardship, a regime change was achieved, but due to the new government's immaturity and the resurgence of internal divisive forces similar to before, the Yoon administration has been severely troubled from the start."

He continued, "Regardless of the reasons, the party leader being disciplined and attacking the party and the president from outside is an unprecedented situation that inevitably reminds us of the Park Geun-hye impeachment," and directly urged, "Stop it now."
