[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] The Suncheon Cultural Foundation (Chairman Noh Kwan-gyu) announced on the 5th that it will hold the exhibition "Old Waiting 展," where visitors can see Korean traditional costume embroidery, at Kim Hye-sun Hanbok Workshop, the 2nd Suncheon Creative Arts Village, from the 9th of this month to the 1st of next month.
This exhibition features the traditional wedding garment, Hwalot (闊衣).
Visitors can observe the structural characteristics of Hwalot, a women's ceremonial dress worn during the Joseon Dynasty wedding ceremony (Garye, 嘉禮), as well as various techniques and colors of traditional embroidery.
Admission is free. The exhibition is closed every Monday and operates on a shortened schedule on Tuesdays.
Master Kim Hye-sun said, "Traditional embroidery faced a crisis during the Japanese colonial period and the influx of Western culture, leading to its decline, but recently, traditional embroidery has been re-evaluated, and many people are striving to continue its legacy." She added, "I am pleased that through this exhibition, we can showcase the beauty of our embroidery techniques and the Hwalot, which carries the history woven into every thread of embroidery."
