Governor Kim Dong-yeon: "Swift Investigation and Follow-up Actions on Icheon Gwango-dong Fire"
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon promised to ensure that there will be no negligence in follow-up measures such as identifying the cause of the fire after a fire broke out in a four-story building in Gwango-dong, Icheon-si, with expected casualties.
Governor Kim stated on Facebook on the 5th, "There is a dialysis specialty hospital on the 4th floor of the (Gwango-dong, Icheon-si) building, and patients were trapped during the fire," expressing regret that "although the fire department quickly initiated rescue efforts, some patients who inhaled smoke are unconscious."
He added, "We will search for any possible victims through extinguishing remaining flames and additional searches, and ensure that there is no negligence in subsequent measures such as identifying the cause of the fire."
Earlier, the fire department issued a Level 1 response, mobilizing all personnel from the local fire station after the fire broke out at around 10:17 a.m. at the building. They deployed 21 pieces of equipment including pump trucks and 51 firefighters to extinguish the fire, successfully controlling the major flames by 10:55 a.m.

Five people died in the fire, all of whom were found on the 4th floor hospital. It was confirmed that there were 46 people inside the hospital at the time, including 33 patients and 13 medical staff.
