Fire at Icheon Hospital... 5 Dead, Dozens Injured
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] A fire broke out at a hospital in Gwango-dong, Icheon-si, Gyeonggi Province, around 10 a.m. on the 5th, resulting in the deaths of five people, including patients and nurses, and injuring dozens. According to the fire authorities, the fire occurred in a building in Gwango-dong, where a dialysis specialty hospital is located on the 4th floor, causing many casualties. All five deceased were found in the 4th-floor hospital; three were dialysis patients, one was a nurse, and one is unidentified. About 40 people are reported to have been injured.
The fire authorities dispatched 21 pieces of equipment, including pump trucks, and 51 firefighters after receiving the report, completing the extinguishing operation at 11:29 a.m., about 1 hour and 10 minutes after the fire started. The fire authorities estimate that the fire began at a screen golf facility on the 3rd floor of the building.
