[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min on the morning of the 5th requested related agencies to support the victims and bereaved families regarding the fire accident at a hospital building in Icheon-si, Gyeonggi Province, and instructed them to take thorough measures to prevent similar accidents.
The fire occurred at around 10:17 a.m. and was fully extinguished by 11:29 a.m. The casualties included 5 deaths and 40 minor injuries, and property damage is under investigation. The building where the fire broke out was a four-story structure above ground, with a restaurant on the first floor, a Korean medicine clinic and offices on the second and third floors, and a dialysis hospital on the fourth floor.

Minister Lee said, "I am very saddened by the casualties caused by this fire, and I ask local governments and related agencies to do their utmost to support the victims and bereaved families," adding, "Please conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident and take all possible measures to prevent similar incidents."
