"How Dare You Report My Car?" ... A Man in His 60s Illegally Parked in Disabled Parking Spot Punctures Reporter’s Tire
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] A man in his 60s who was punished for illegally parking in a disabled parking space harbored resentment and carried out so-called ‘puncture terror’ on the reporter’s vehicle, and was caught by the police.
According to the Masan Dongbu Police Station in Gyeongnam on the 4th, the vehicle owner A is suspected of damaging the wheels of a 40-year-old B’s car twice on the 20th and 28th of last month in a disabled parking space at an apartment in Masanhwoewon-gu, Changwon City.
During the police investigation, it was revealed that A, who is not disabled, had previously parked his car in the disabled parking space near the apartment to go to a bathhouse and was fined after being reported by B.
A used a pre-prepared awl-type tool to puncture the rear passenger side wheel of B’s vehicle.
B is a parent of two children with disabilities, and after noticing puncture marks and flat tires caused by sharp objects on his car’s wheels, he complained about the damage on an online community and reported it to the police.
He said on the community, “I often take my children to hospitals in Busan or Yangsan via the highway, and if the tires had blown out on the highway, it could have led to a serious accident. Just thinking about it is terrifying.”
He added, “Despite seeing the disabled vehicle sign, non-disabled vehicles park daily in the disabled-only parking spaces, and I have reported several times to the Safe Report Center. Some vehicles deliberately do not answer calls and park more than five days a week,” expressing suspicion that the crime was retaliatory for his reports.
The police identified A as the suspect through CCTV around the scene and inquiries after receiving B’s report on the 21st of last month.
A, who complied with the police summons, eventually admitted to the crime when the police presented evidence.

The police stated that they believe A took out his frustration over the fine by targeting the disabled vehicle parked in the disabled parking space, and A has been booked without detention on charges of property damage and is under investigation.
