[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Air Premia announced on the 4th that it has signed a lease contract with aircraft leasing company Airgo Capital for two Boeing B787-9 aircraft.
The signing ceremony held in Singapore for this contract was attended by Air Premia's CEO Yoo Myung-seop and Head of Strategy Park Kwang-eun, Airgo Capital's Asia Regional Vice President Antony Stellman and Deputy Vice President Mark Sullivan, and Chris Reed, Senior Restructuring Officer of the UK Export Finance. Representatives from American aircraft manufacturer Boeing and British aircraft engine manufacturer Rolls-Royce were also present.
Airgo Capital, an aircraft leasing company based in Ireland, has its headquarters in Dublin and operates branches in New York, Hong Kong, and Nairobi, Kenya. It specializes in leasing aircraft to airlines, owning a diverse fleet including wide-body aircraft specialized for long-haul routes, narrow-body aircraft for medium and short-haul routes, and turboprops for short-distance flights.
Through this contract, Air Premia has completed preparations for the introduction of its 4th and 5th aircraft and secured a total fleet of five aircraft, including three newly manufactured Boeing aircraft previously contracted. The 4th aircraft is scheduled for delivery after safety inspections by the end of August this year, and the 5th aircraft is expected to be delivered in early next year.
Yoo Myung-seop, CEO of Air Premia, said, “By securing a total of five aircraft through this contract, we have completed preparations to target the medium- and long-haul markets in the Americas and Europe. The high fuel efficiency and comfortable cabin environment of the B787-9 aircraft will provide travelers with a satisfying travel experience at reasonable prices, creating new customer value in the endemic era.”
Meanwhile, Air Premia launched its first international route to Singapore on the 15th of last month, offering passengers comfortable seats and in-flight meals. Air Premia’s ‘Premium Economy Class’ reduces cost burden to about half the price of other companies’ business class while providing comparable service benefits.
