Gwangju Cultural Credit Union Donates 50 Million Won Development Fund to Chosun University
Donation of 100 Million Won Total from Last Year Through This Year
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Cultural Credit Union has donated 50 million KRW to Chosun University for the Central Library SmartUP Development Fund, strengthening the university's development. This is the second donation following the 50 million KRW Startup Eobbuba Scholarship Fund in August last year.
The agreement and donation ceremony held on the 4th at Chosun University was attended by Gwangju Cultural Credit Union Chairman Ko Youngcheol, Standing Auditor Choi Younggyun, Executive Director Kim Namseok, Director Lee Jinsook, as well as Chosun University President Min Youngdon, Central Library Director Im Seongcheol, Chosun University Credit Union Chairman Park Changwook, External Cooperation Director Kim Bongcheol, General Affairs Management Director Jo Samrae, and External Cooperation Department Director Park Junyoung.
With the value that "The center of the credit union is always the people," Gwangju Cultural Credit Union aims to contribute to the lives of the local community and its members by fostering a community spirit of living together and helping socially and economically vulnerable groups such as students facing difficult economic situations.
Additionally, as part of Gwangju Cultural Credit Union's social contribution, the donation aims to contribute to the development of the Central Library, which serves 1.5 million local residents in learning, culture, and knowledge enjoyment.
Through this, Chosun University plans to design a Central Library equipped with a smart convergence system, creating an advanced study caf?-style library, a media center for providing cultural content, and a smart educational environment including metaverse and VR.
Chairman Ko Youngcheol said, "Gwangju Cultural Credit Union strives to be a reliable support for local residents by always extending a helping hand amid the worsening livelihood economy," adding, "I hope the Central Library, which is stepping forward for the local community through this donation, will advance based on its goals."
President Min Youngdon stated, "We will use this valuable support to transform Chosun University Central Library into a library for local residents in line with the trend of the 4th Industrial Revolution."
