National Intangible Cultural Heritage Master Yoon Jin-cheol's Painting Exhibition
Traditional Hanok Guesthouse Chunhwadang in the Old Downtown from August 5 to October 30
[Mokpo=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Hyeong-seok] At Chunhwadang, a representative traditional hanok in Mokpo City, Jeollanam-do, an exhibition of paintings by Master Yoon Jin-cheol, the holder of National Intangible Cultural Property No. 5 Pansori Jeokbyeokga, will be held at 5 p.m. on the 5th.
Chunhwadang is located in the original downtown area of Mokpo, and this exhibition is open to the public free of charge until October 30.
Master Yoon Jin-cheol was born in Jukgyo-dong, Mokpo City, and began learning Pansori at the age of 11. He gained nationwide fame as a boy master by winning various competitions.
He later inherited the 'Jeokbyeokga' from Master Jeong Gwon-jin and was recognized as the holder of National Intangible Cultural Property No. 5 Pansori Jeokbyeokga in December 2020.
Over time, he felt that painting and sound were very similar, and he has been painting with enthusiasm in his spare time, showcasing his works starting with his first solo exhibition in 2009.
The theme of this exhibition is 'Plum Blossom,' and visitors can enjoy both his artworks and performances as a lifelong singing clown, generating great anticipation.
A city official stated, “In addition to the Korean painting invitational exhibition, various events such as a hanok humanities concert, gourmet concert, and retro pop performances are planned, so we ask for the citizens' great interest.”

Meanwhile, the Korean painting invitational exhibition is part of the detailed projects of the '2022 Traditional Hanok Branding Project' hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to foster traditional hanok as traditional cultural experience lodging facilities. In Mokpo, Chunhwadang was selected through a public contest and is currently promoting the project.
