Hampyeong-gun Supports Discount Cards for Seniors Returning Driver's Licenses
5% Discount on Fees at Designated Businesses Such as Photo Studios and Optical Shops
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Hampyeong County is implementing the ‘Senior Driver’s Voluntary Driver’s License Return Support Project’ to reduce the traffic accident rate among elderly drivers.
According to the county on the 3rd, to prevent traffic accidents caused by the decline in cognitive and physical abilities of elderly drivers, discount cards will be provided to drivers who return their driver’s licenses.
Eligibility for support is for those aged 65 or older holding a driver’s license and registered as residents in Hampyeong County as of the application date.
Drivers wishing to apply can visit the Hampyeong Police Station and receive a discount card upon returning their driver’s license.
Card holders can receive a 5% discount on usage fees at designated businesses such as photo studios and opticians within the county.

A county official said, “We are continuously promoting this through leaflets, banners, and other means to encourage seniors to voluntarily return their licenses,” adding, “We ask for much interest and participation to create a safe traffic environment.”
