According to statistics from the Korea Meteorological Administration, over the past three years, the average number of days with advisories or warnings issued due to weather conditions such as fine dust, rainfall, and heat waves in the Gyeongbuk region is 180.5 days. Considering the 190 school days, it is analyzed that students may be exposed to weather impacts outside the school during about 94 days when commuting to and from school.
The Office of Education conducted a demand survey to prepare ‘waiting spaces for safe commuting according to weather conditions,’ secured 1.1 billion KRW in the first supplementary budget of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Office of Education’s special account this year, and plans to carry out a pilot project within the year for schools wishing to participate.
The main features include installing ▲sealed booths that can protect from external environments, along with ▲air purifiers, ▲heating and cooling devices, ▲CCTV, ▲educational promotional displays, ▲smartphone chargers, and ▲automatic lighting devices, so that students and parents can use them at any time.
