Mokpo City Launches Extensive Cleanliness Campaign to Welcome Tourists
[Mokpo=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Hyeong-seok] Jeollanam-do Mokpo City announced on the 1st that it is conducting cleanliness activities throughout the city to provide tourists with a pleasant city image as the summer vacation season begins in earnest.
On the 29th of last month, about 200 people including the Mokpo Saemaeul Association, the Mokpo City Council of the Barun Living Movement, citizens, and public officials participated in focused efforts such as weed removal and garbage collection along the coastal road near the North Port Station of the Mokpo Marine Cable Car, a place frequently visited by tourists.
Mayor Park Hong-ryul of Mokpo expressed his gratitude to the participants who joined the cleanliness activities despite the hot weather and lent a hand.
The city has designated the period from the 20th of last month to the end of this month as the focused cleanliness activity period, mobilizing all available personnel including public officials and self-governing organizations to continuously carry out environmental maintenance throughout the city.
In addition, to enhance the image as a tourist city, the city plans to focus on tasks such as city area maintenance, eradication of solicitation and unfair charges at restaurants, and improvement of friendliness among transportation workers.
