Ssangyong Motor, 10,752 Units Sold in July... "Over 10,000 Units Sold for 19 Consecutive Months"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] SsangYong Motor announced on the 1st that it sold a total of 10,752 units last month, including 6,100 units domestically and 4,652 units for export.
This performance surpassed 10,000 units for the first time in 19 months since December 2020 (10,591 units), driven by increased sales volume following the launch of Torres. Both domestic and export sales recorded an upward trend, increasing by 31.8% compared to the same month last year.
Domestic sales exceeded 6,000 units for the first time in 8 months since November last year (6,277 units), increasing by 7.9% year-on-year due to the Torres effect. Torres, which has received great acclaim in the market including setting a record for the highest number of pre-orders for a new car, sold 2,752 units within two weeks after delivering the first unit on the 15th of last month.
Exports also continued strong growth, renewing the monthly record set in May (4,007 units) after 6 years by selling 4,652 units two months later, marking an 85.9% increase compared to the same month last year.
Meanwhile, SsangYong Motor switched the Pyeongtaek plant to a two-shift system from the 11th of last month to establish a stable mass production system for the new car, as Torres pre-orders exceeded 50,000 units.
