Yeonggwang-gun Implements 'Animal Registration Fee Support Project'
[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Jeollanam-do Yeonggwang-gun (Governor Kang Jongman) announced on the 1st that it will implement the 'Animal Registration Fee Support Project' to prevent the occurrence of lost and abandoned animals and to promote the registration of companion dogs.
The Animal Registration Fee Support Project allows applicants to receive a subsidy of 30,000 KRW per animal by visiting the town or township office or the county office's Livestock Quarantine Team with a receipt showing an average payment of about 40,000 KRW per animal after receiving an implantable identification chip procedure through an animal hospital designated by the county and filling out an application form.
The project volume for this year is 90 animals.
The county operates a voluntary animal registration reporting period until the end of this month, during which registration and change reports are exempt from fines.
Starting next month, intensive enforcement will be carried out, and if animals subject to registration are not registered or changes are not reported, a fine of up to 600,000 KRW will be imposed.
A county official said, "This voluntary reporting period is operated to activate animal registration and update animal registration information," and added, "Since fines are imposed if not registered, we hope people take advantage of the voluntary reporting period to register and report changes."
For more details, inquiries can be made through the Animal Protection Management System or the county office's Livestock Quarantine Team.
