Korail Gwangju Jeonnam, Cargo Vehicle Collision Prevention Campaign
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Korea Railroad Corporation Gwangju Regional Management Office announced on the 1st that it recently conducted a campaign with related organizations to prevent cargo vehicle collision accidents under the railway bridge in Pyeongdong Industrial Complex.
The location where the campaign was held is a site where three cargo vehicles (wing cars) operated with the wing body doors open collided with the vehicle clearance frame installed to protect the railway bridge, causing damage to the vehicles and facilities.
At the time, the damage to vehicles and facilities was significant, and continuous damage occurred due to the broken facilities and vehicles. During the period when the vehicle clearance frame was being restored, the road was completely closed, causing inconvenience to the residents of the area.
Accordingly, the Gwangju Regional Management Office has established and is operating a cooperative system with related organizations such as Gwangsan District Office and Gwangsan Police Station for rapid response and recovery in preparation for similar accidents, and is continuously making multifaceted efforts for fundamental accident prevention.
As part of these efforts, the Gwangju Regional Management Office has built an efficient accident prevention system by continuously conducting guidance and promotional activities such as providing detour route app services through a business agreement with a cargo vehicle-exclusive navigation company, improving infrastructure such as upgrading and reinstalling the vehicle clearance frame and improving the height of obstructing facilities in consultation with related organizations, establishing public-private cooperation systems, and joint campaigns with related organizations targeting accident-prone areas.
